UNB, Dhaka :BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday night said her party will announce tougher action programmes this month alongside celebrating the nation’s victory to ensure a fair inclusive election by ousting the current ‘illegal government’. “This is the month of victory. We’ll announce strong programmes this month alongside celebrating the victory to protect the country’s interests,” she said. She also said this time they will not leave the streets until the fall of current corrupt, repressive and killer administration. The BNP chief came up with the announcement at her Gulshan office while inaugurating a month-long programme of Jatiyatabadi Muktijuddha Dal, a body of pro-BNP freedom fighters, taken marking the Victory Month of December.Referring to January-5 election, Khaleda said people did not vote in the lopsided polls as 154 MPs were elected without any vote. Khaleda hoped that people will respond to her call for a decisive movement as they did it during the January-5 election by boycotting the polls as per her appeal.Mentioning that no foreign observer monitored the election, she said even no foreign country supported the staged-managed election. The BNP chief also claimed that her party is pro-liberation one as its alliance with Jamaat only for election and movement.”Awami League is not a pro-liberation party. They used to criticise us for our alliance with Jamaat though they had joined polls in 1986 with it and waged a movement with the Islamist party for caretaker government in 1995. I want to clearly state that we have no entente with Jamaat. We’ve an alliance with the party only for movement and election,” she added.Refuting the ruling party leaders’ allegation that BNP had given the Razakars the chance to use the national flag in their vehicles by making two Jamaat leaders ministers, Khaleda said it was Awami League that did it first by making Nurul Islam Razakar a minister. The current parliament is illegal and unrepresentative; the former Prime Minister said adding that all the laws passed by the current government will be annulled if her party returns to power. Criticising Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam for making indecorous remarks about US assistant secretary Nisha Biswal, she said a responsible person should not make such irresponsible comments about foreign leaders. “As the ruling party has become used to hurl abuses at BNP, they are now badmouthing about foreigners denting the country’s image.”She recalled that Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury earlier made offensive remarks about the World Bank.Khaleda was critical of the Chhatra League and Jubo League for what she said indulging in terrorist acts, corruption and looting. “All Chhatra League and Jubo League men are roaming with arms and they’re busy plundering public money.”She alleged that the country’s universities have now turned into arms houses where Chhatra League men are capturing halls and attacking students and teachers, hampering educational atmosphere. Khaleda accused the government of politicising the country’s all institutions, including police force, judiciary and even army. “There’ s no neutrality in the army. Those who support Awami League and loyal to it are getting promoted.”The former Prime Minister claimed that her governments in the past did not politicise the army.Khaleda demanded the government announce February 25 the national mourning day commemorating the deaths of 73 people, including 57 brilliant officers, at Philkhana, then BDR headquarters, on that day. The government did not hold the trial of BDR mutiny properly, she said assuring that they will ensure an impartial trial if her party is voted to power.
