A team of Rapid Action Battalion Unit-8 on Friday afternoon recovered a 48-kilogramme weigh antique touchstone statue of Shib-linga and arrested six persons in this connection from Ichhladi Bazaar area under Wazirpur upazila of Barisal district.
Major Adnan Kabir of RAB-8 (operation) said RAB on basis of tip-off while advancing towards Ichhladi Bazaar, some people tried to fled from the scene after became aware about presence of RAB on Friday afternoon.
Then RAB team chasing them detained Badsha Bepari, 23, Rony Hasan,28, Mehedi Hasan, 24, Anwar Hossain, 55, Sumon Bepari, 22, and Ashaful Huq Haoladar, 20,.
In interrogation they acknowledged that they with the Shib-linga statue in a sack waiting for customer to sell.
RAB searching the sack in presence of the local people recovered the statue, seven mobile phone sets with 13 SIMs of different mobile phone companies and Tk. 3,895.
