The number of individual taxpayers of the country crossed 14.54 lakh.
Till January of this year, country’s total individual tax payers number stood at 14,54,079, finance minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith told this replying to a question made by lawmaker Nizam Uddin Hazari of Feni-2 constituency at the question answer tabled in the house here Sunday.
As the government has launched 12-digit electronic tax identification number (E-TIN) from July 1, 2013 instead of previous 10-digit tax identification number (TIN) under E-TIN registration and database cleansing programme run by National Board of Revenue (NBR), said the minister.
The launch of new electronic TIN identification number would simply help increase the number of individual tax payers.
About the number of district-wise tax payers, the finance minister said the number of district level tax payers is being colleted in circle office of the specific district in the country.
