Top terror Jisan’s close associate held

Director to Legal and Media Wing of the RAB Head Quarters said this in a press briefing at Karwan Bazar media office on Saturday afternoon.
They had arrested Mazharul Islam alias Shakil, an associate of ‘Interpol’ listed most wanted Bangladeshi top terror Jisan Ahmed, the RAB official said.
Shakil returned from Dubai in January and was admitted to a city hospital where he gave the plan of dominating the under world, the RAB spokesman said.
Meanwhile family sources claimed that Shakil was picked up by RAB men from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) around 11:30 pm on Wednesday but his attendant Shaon is still missing after picking up the elite force members at the same time. .
At one stage, they filed a general diary (GD) with the Shahbagh Police Station, according to them.
On October 4, 2019, Police claimed that the process to bring back fugitive ‘top terror’ Jisan Ahmed from the United Arab Emirates has already begun. He was arrested in Dubai.
He’ll be brought back soon through the Foreign Ministry after completion of necessary formalities.
The Home ministry announced Tk 15 lakh award on December 27, 2001 for information about 23 notorious criminals in the capital. Jisan was one of them. He was involved with extortion and criminal activities at Gulshan, Banani and Badda and other parts of the capital.
His name came to limelight after two officers of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police were shot dead in a residential hotel in Malibagh in 2003. Jisan fled to India in 2005.
Sources at the police headquarters said, Jisan went to Dubai from India after managing an Indian Passport and changed his name to Ali Akbar Chowdhury. Interpol issued a red alert in his name.
His name came up again after the arrest of Jubo League leaders GK Shamim and Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan last month during an anti-corruption drive.
