After a break of 16 years, once popular TV actress Tonima Hamid performed as a model in a TV commercial (TVC) of a multinational company’s product, Canton Soup.
Directed by Roni Bhowmik Tonima has finished shooting of the TVC on Saturday.
Its shooting was taken place at Coke Studio in the city’s Tejgaon area. To perform in this TVC, Tonima has broken down her egoism not to perform in any TVC.
From 2001 to 2003 Tonima signed in a agreement with a multinational company to perform as model in their TVCs. She got payment from them on monthly basis. But that company didn’t give her opportunity to perform as model in their TVCs rather than they recruited other models. From that experience Tonima decided not to perform as a model of any company’s product. At last, Roni Bhowmik has broken down Tonima’s egoism.
While talking about to perform in this TVC Tonima told this correspondent, “To keep request from director of the TVC, I have decided to perform in it. Director Roni has tried to express my role properly. I am very much optimistic about the TVC. Within very short days the TVC will go on air in different satellite channels.”
It may be mentioned that 16 years ago, Tonima last performed as a model in a TVC of Litchi Drinks under Masum Aziz’s direction. But the TVC was only screened in different cinema halls of the country during that time. From that point of view TVC of Canton Soup will be Tonima’s performed first commercial advertisement.
Now Tonima has been working as Lecturer on Social Relation at East West University.
Recently she has acted in her mother Falguni Hamid’s directed a serial titled Swapner Iraboti. Main theme of this serial was written by Tonima herself. It will be aired on ATN Bangla soon.
Tonima debuted her acting career on the screen by Anindyo Awal’s directed a play titled Hoimonti in 1999.
