Staff Reporter :The Primary School Certificate (PSC) and Ebtedayee examinations-2015 scheduled for today (Monday) will be held on November 30 due to Jamaat-e-Islami’s daylong hartal.The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education postponed the examination after called a daylong hartal by Jamaat-e-Islami in protest against the execution of its General Secretary Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed for his wartime crimes. Public Relations Officer of Primary and Education Ministry Rabindra Roy said that the Ministry took the decision that Bangla examinations of PSC and Ebtedayee scheduled for Monday have been shifted for the shutdown call of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. The PSC and Ebtedayee examinations began across the country on Sunday with participation of some 32,54,514 students.The examinations are being held at 7,052 centres in the country and at eight overseas centres.Among the examinees this year, 29,49,063 are appearing for the PSC examinations and 3,05,451 for the Ebtedayee. Students in both the categories are sitting for examinations in six subjects that carry 600 marks in total. The examinations, dubbed as the largest public examination in the country, will end on November 30 instead of scheduled 29 due to hartal. Meanwhile, Primary and Mass Education Minister Mustafizur Rahman Fizar visited Motijheel Ideal Government School and some other centers in the city on Sunday. Visiting the centers, the Minister said that terminal examinations might be cancelled if the primary upgraded to Class-8.”The government is considering upgrading the primary education from Class-5 to Class-8,” he said. “When the primary education will be made up to Class-8, then we will merge the two examinations,” the Minister said.
