Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (Toab) has strongly urged the government to reopen all tourist destinations across the country maintaining health safety guidelines.
Reopening tourist spots with health guidelines and Standard Operating procedures in place will allow the industry to recover from the impacts of the pandemic and prevent further damage to this sector, Toab President MdRafiuzzaman said in a press conference at the National Press Club in the capital on Thursday.
Tourism, the third-largest industry in the world, has lost Tk20,000 crore in Bangladesh due to the pandemic last year and this year losses account for Tk5,700 crore, Toab said. The damage may rise up to Tk9,000crore if the restrictions on the industry continue till December.
