Sun tan is the dark skin colour due to long periods of exposure to the sun and is not preferred by most Asians. It is fashionable among pale skinned people in the West to acquire a sun tan, When the skin gets over exposed to the sun, the melatonin present in the skin becomes irritated, as the sun’s rays are more direct in winter, causing the skin to get a darker tone. People who want to lighten a sun tan seek natural remedies or simple home treatment to lighten a tan.
Tip 1:
Raw milk is very effective for treating suntan. Take some raw milk in a bowl and add a pinch of turmeric powder, and mix well. Use a cotton ball and apply this mixture on the tanned face, leave till it dries out and wash your face with cold water. Repeat this remedy on a daily basis to get back a clear glowing skin.
Tip 2:
Yogurt is an anti-tanning agent that helps to cool the skin, reduces redness and tightens the pores. Apply yogurt to the affected area of the skin, then leave for half an hour and rinse off with lukewarm water.

Fresh Aloe Vera gel can be applied to the affected skin areas to lighten the skin tone. Apply the gel daily before going to bed and wash off thoroughly in the morning. This helps to cleanse and nourish the skin.

Raw potato has natural bleaching properties that work wonders to remove sun-tanned skin. Blend 2-3 medium sizes of potatoes to make a paste. Apply the paste gently over the tanned skin area and leave for about half an hour, then wash your face with cold water.

Gram flour is another effective remedy that is very helpful in lightening sun tanned skin. Make a paste of gram flour and water, and then massage the paste all over the affected skin area. Leave for 20-30 minutes, and then rinse it off with water. Repeat this remedy twice a week for a few months. This remedy helps remove dead skin cells and keep your skin looking young and healthy.

Honey and lemon make a great combination for treating sun-tanned skin. Take equal amount of honey and lemon, mix well and massage gently on the skin for at least 20 minutes, then wash it off with mild soap and cold water.
