Speakers at a function here on Tuesday underscored the need for ensuring the government services to the poor to change their socioeconomic conditions to build a prosperous country.
“Emphasis should be given to find out the problems of the poor and then, initiative will be taken to solve their problems one after another on priority basis through united efforts of all as the development of the country is not possible without changing the lots of the poor”, they said.
They made the comment while addressing an opinion exchange meeting on poor people’s access to government services organized by SKS Foundation at the conference room of Fulchhari upazila parishad under RECALL project funded by Oxfam-GB.
Upazila parishad chairman M. Habibur Rahman attended the function and addressed it as the chief guest while UNO Mostafizur Rahman presided over the meeting.
The meeting was also addressed, among others, by upazila agriculture officer Tahazul Islam, upazila engineer of LGED AKM Aktarul Ahsan, upazila livestock officer Dr. Hadiuzzaman, upazila cooperative officer Abdul Kafi Sarker, upazila project implementation officer Abu Hena M. Saharul Islam and project coordinator Osman Gani.
The speakers in their speeches gave their commitments to stand beside the underprivileged and poor communities of the district particularly the char areas and to provide their departmental services to them properly to help change their livelihoods and living standard.
