Customs intelligence on Wednesday seized huge illegal cosmetics worth Tk 40 crore from a factory in the the city’s Demra area.
Tipped off, a team of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate along with members of Rapid Action Battalion-10 and tax officials conducted a drive at the factory owned by Moonstar Ltd.
During the drive, the owner failed to produce valid tax documents against the import of cosmetics.
It was also found that employees were refilling containers and bottles of world renowned body spray, perfume and gel brands with local and low grade chemicals to cheat customers.
