Armed muggers took away Tk 3 lakh from an agent of bKash, a mobile money transfer provider, shooting him in the capital’s East Badda area on Sunday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Faysal, 27, Sales Officer of Fox Globe Distribution Limited.
He was admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) with a bullet wound in a leg, said Mozammel Haque, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
The police official said that two masked muggers waylaid Faysal at Shahbuddin crossing at about 12:45pm when he was going to collect money from some shops.
“They shot at Faysal and snatched away his bag containing Tk 3 lakh,” the police official said.
A case was filed in this connection, he said.
In another incident, a gang of unidentified miscreants snatched Tk one lakh from a man on a rickshaw in the city’s Motijheel area in the afternoon.
The victim was identified as Nurul Islam Mridha, said Proloy Kumar, Inspector (Investigation) of Motijheel Police Station.
Two miscreants on a motorcycle intercepted the rickshaw of Nurul Islam near office of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in Motijheel around 1:15pm.
They snatched the bag of Nurul Islam and left the spot instantly, the police official said.
A general diary was filed in this connection, he said.
