Police have arrested two suspected muggers in Sadar upazila in connection with Sunday’s snatching of Tk 35 lakhs after killing a trader at Parulia on the outskirts of the district town.
The arrestees were identified as Badiuzzaman Badi, 31, son of Chan Miah of Paschim Parulia, and Mehedi Hasan, 29, son of Ichha Mondal of Parulia village in Sadar upazila.
Police also recovered Tk 70,000 snatched money and three motorcycles used in the thrilling mugging.
On secret information, police arrested the duo after conducting drives at their respective homes in the early hours of Monday.
On Sunday afternoon, muggers looted Tk 35 lakh after killing trader Al Mamun, 40, son of Mozammel Haque of Battala Latihati in Panchbibi upazila at Parulia.
The criminals also injured another trader Abdur Rahim alias Naru Miah, son of late Inchhan Ali of Mancha village in the same upazila during the incident.
