‘Tk 30 lakh’ looted in Pirojpur

Muggers reportedly looted around Tk 30 lakh from two traders after stabbing them and blasting crude bombs in Kaukhali Bazar area of Kaukhali upazila headquarters on Friday afternoon.
Md Jahangir Alam, officer-in-charge of Kaukhali Police Station, said Babul Saha of Swarupkathi in the district and Ashim Paul of Banaripara in Barisal collected dues from several
grocery shops in the bazaar in the afternoon.
When they were returning along with the money, a gang of muggers swooped on them on Kaukhali Girls School road around 4 pm.
The bandits exploded several crude bombs and took away Tk 6.5 lakh from Ashim and several lakh from Babul after stabbing the two traders, the OC said.
The injured were taken to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Ashim and Babul claimed that they had around Tk 30 lakh with them during the mugging incident.
However, police could not confirm as to how much money was looted although they arrested one Parvez in this connection.
