Tk 19,803.62cr supple budget passed in JS

The Parliament Tuesday passed a total sum of Tk19,803.62 crore as supplementary budget for the fiscal 2015-16 to meet the increased expenditures under different ministries.
Finance minister AMA Muhith placed the supplementary budget in the House on June 2 along with the national budget for 2016-17 fiscal year.
The finance minister moved the Appropriation (Supplementary) Bill 2016 in the House. The lawmakers approved the bill by voice votes allowing the government to spend Tk 19,803.63 crore from the consolidated fund to meet the expenditures of the current fiscal year ending on June 30.
Lawmakers of both treasury and opposition benches took part in the general discussion before the passage of the supplementary budget of the 2015-16 fiscal.
Finally, the house unanimously passed the Appropriation (Supplementary) Bill 2016 through voice votes. The total allocation in the current national budget was Tk 2,95,100 crore.
Later, the allocation in the revised budget stands at Tk 2,64,565 crore. In the national budget of the current fiscal, the revenue income was estimated at Tk 2,08,443 crore. In the revised budget, the revenue was kept at Tk1, 77,400crore.
BSS adds: In the supplementary budget, the highest Tk 3576.27 lakh, 63 thousand was allocated for the Home Affairs Ministry while Tk 3153 crore, 31lakh, 45 thousand was sanctioned for Education Ministry, Tk 2309 crore, 28 lakh, 83 thousand for Defence Ministry, Tk 274 crore 29 lakh, 84 thousand for the planning division under the planning ministry, Tk 349 crore 25 lakh and 57 thousand was allocated for Local Government Division while Tk 118 crore, 57 lakh and 77 thousand for Rural Local Development and Co-operatives Division under the LGRD Ministry, Tk 238 crore, 02 lakh and 44 thousand for Banking and Financial Institutions, Tk 2114 crore, 92 lakh and 80 thousand for Health and Family Welfare Ministry, Tk 275 crore, 30 lakh and 80 thousand for Public Administration Ministry, Tk 81 crore, 99 lakh and 83 thousand for the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Tk 32 crore, 25 lakh, 59 thousand for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry, Tk 1017 core, 82 lakh and 51 thousand for Housing and Public works Ministry, Tk 330 crore, 37 lakh and 34 thousand for Disaster Management and Relief Affairs Ministry, Tk 903 crore, 37 lakh and 34 thousand for Road Transport and Highways Ministry, Tk 650 crore, 14 lakh and 37 for Shipping Ministry, Tk 156 crore, 34 lakh and 97 thousand for Land Ministry.
Besides, Tk 17 core, 81 lakh and 85 thousand was allocated for the Anti-Corruption Commission, while Tk 42 crore, 67 lakh and 87 thousand for Information Ministry.
On the other hand, Tk 97,000 crore was allocated in the Annual Development Programme in the national budget of the current fiscal. But, in the revised budget the allocation was Tk 91,000 crore.
Different ministries, divisions and institutions sought the additional amount under 31demands for the grant. Earlier, some opposition and independent lawmaker brought a total of 194 cut-motions. The MPs discussed six proposals of the cut-motions, which were rejected by voice votes.
