Switzerland has committed to contribute 1.2 million Swiss Francs (about Tk 102 crore) in emergency humanitarian assistance for the Rohingya people and the flood-affected people in Bangladesh through the SDC Humanitarian Aid.
Out of this contribution, one million Swiss francs will be used to provide life-saving support and respond to the immediate needs of the Rohingyas who have recently arrived in Bangladesh, said a press release of Swiss Embassy in Dhaka.
The priority support areas are food security, shelter, water and sanitation.
Switzerland is closely monitoring this humanitarian crisis and envisions scaling up its humanitarian assistance to meet the emergency needs of the new arrivals.
Switzerland has also decided to provide CHF 200’000 to support the flood affected people in Bangladesh. This Swiss humanitarian assistance comes in response to the emergency appeal made by the International Federation of Red Cross.
