Titas employees demand acting MD’s dismissal

Three employees’ unions of the Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited have demanded immediate dismissal of Acting Managing Director (MD) Engineer Nowshad Islam from service for his alleged acts of irregularities, one after another, in
the company since his joining one year ago. By this time, he provided about 3.5 lakh illegal gas connections, depriving the State of a very good amount of revenues.
The leaders of Titas Gas Employees Union, Titas Gas Karmachari Union and Titas Gas Sramik and Karmachari Union at a joint press conference organised in the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity on Tuesday claimed that the acting managing director deliberately had stopped inspection teams’ activities in order to hide his irregularities.
Nowshad Islam joined as managing director superceding six senior executives and began posting and transfer trading. In this way, he earned crores of taka, said the leaders at the press conference.
They said Titas got relief from system loss in 2009 after the Awami League led grand alliance government came to power and thereby a huge amount of money could be saved. But now Engineer Nowshad has been trying to destroy the success of the government.
Member-secretary of Titas Karmachary Sangram Parishad Saiful Islam, leaders Delowar Hossain, Mahbubar Rahman and Enamul Haque, among others, were present at the press conference.
