Commerce minister Tipu Munshi, MP, has said the present government will take steps to ensure fair price of agricultural products being produced by farmers at grassroots levels across the country.
“To make farm activities more profitable for farmers and ensure their welfare, special initiatives will be taken to improve the market management system and enhance facilities for preservation and marketing of agricultural products,” he said.
Tipu, also a freedom fighter, said this while addressing a function at Rahamoter Char Dakhil Madrasha ground in Tambulpur union on the Teesta riverbed in Pirgachha upazila on Thursday evening as the chief guest.
He attended the function after conducting day-long post-election public contacts and addressing street corner rallies at many places in different unions of Pirgachha upazila during his first time visit after becoming a minister.
Tipu expressed his deep gratitude to the people of Pirgachha upazila for electing him Member of Parliament for the third consecutive time from Rangpur-4 (Pirgachha-Kawnia) constituency saying that he will not be able to repay the debt he owes to them.
The minister said he would take all necessary steps to free Pirgachha upazila, his birthplace, from drug, militancy, terrorism, child marriage and other social curses side by side with development to turn Pirgachha into a model upazila.
“We have implemented a number of projects and undertaken some others in addition to nationalisation of a high school and a college and improving the rural communication networks by building bridges and culverts in the upazila,” he said.
