Timely completion of Padma Bridge uncertain: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday said that there is uncertainty over the completion of the Padma Bridge construction work in time.
“Although everything is ready to complete the construction work of the Padma Bridge, I’m not still sure about its timely completion, because the Padma River found as an most unpredictable one,” he said while speaking at a press briefing at Saidpur Airport before starting his return journey towards the capital in the morning.
He added, “It found hurdles to install spans. In this circumstance, now it has become a Herculean task. The construction works are getting delayed for such uncertain condition.”
Obaidul Quader, also Awami League General Secretary, said, the BNP is trying to create anarchy over the upcoming national election.
“They are hatching conspiracy after they failed to wage any movement against the government in the last 10 years, because people did not respond them even when the BNP chairperson was out of jail,” he said.
An Awami League delegation, led by Obaidul Quader, left Kamalapur Railway Station in the capital for Nilphamari by a train on Saturday morning aiming to carry out electioneering in northern districts.
The AL leaders participated in the rallies at railway stations in Tangail, Pabna, Natore, Bogra, Joypurhat, Dinajpur and Nilphamari districts and gave directions to the party grassroots leaders to get ready for the next polls.
