The law enforcing agencies including Chittagong Metropolitan Police (SMP) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have taken special measures to maintain the law and order situation particularly curbing the incidents of snatching, looting and extortion in the Sylhet city during upcoming holy Eid-ul- Fitr.
Iqbal Bahar, Commissioner of SMP said, “The law enforcing agonies particularly police have taken special measures to maintain the law and order situation during the Eid-ul- Fitr in Sylhet.” “We set up check posts and deployed huge number of policemen at the important spots and the gates of markets. As a result, the buyers can be more safer than previous years.”
Following the directive of the ministry, the SMP deployed special teams for maintaining security. Besides, several mobile teams are patrolling in the city as well as vulnerable areas of district in this regard. SMP sources said, policemen will be deployed at the important spots and establishments including Sylhet Court Building, markets, Sylhet Press Club, News paper offices in Sylhet during the government holidays fearing the attack of militants at that time particularly in the government holidays.
Meanwhile, SMP and district police set up check posts in the important spots and intersections in the city. Police are checking the auto rickshaws, private cars and micro buses in those spots. On the other hand, SMP called upon the city dwellers to inform about the terrorists and criminals to the police. RAB-9 has conducted special raids to nab the criminals and militants fearing the anarchy of miscreants, the RAB sources said. officials said, “RAB is very alert about the law and order situation.
RAB has started raids in the city and rural areas to nab the criminals and suspicious terrors.” Sources said, incidents of snatching were increasing particularly in the city area recently. According to sources in police, the CNG auto-rickshaws are used for snatching, extortion and other crimes in the Sylhet city. The silent killer groups who are still active in the city are using the CNG autos for killing.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Tight security measures were adopted here and its adjacent area centering the Eid-ul-Fitr, largest religious festival of the Muslims, to make the celebration a total success.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has set up some Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at different strategic points to monitor the security measures arranged for city dwellers.
According to the sources of RMP and district Police, the additional security measures will exist from the previous day of Eid and till next three days.
Shafiqul Islam, Commissioner of RMP, told the newsmen that all the police stations and camps have already given instruction to ensure extra security measures in all the celebration points including the Eid congregations.
Besides deployment of additional forces, detective vigilance was intensified at all the busiest market points and shopping malls.
All the entry points of the city like Katakhali, Nawdapara and Kasiadanga area were brought under tight security measures with strong vigilance and monitoring.
Necessary instruction was also given to search the suspicious persons at any points during the celebration period.
RMP Chief Shafiqul Islam said, “We will watch the movement of boarders of the residential hotels”.
On the other hand, RAB-5 has taken all-out security measures to make the festival a total success.
Meanwhile, Shahmukhdum Central Eid Jamaat Committee and the Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) and all others concerned have chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival for the Muslims, in the city with due fervor, joy and enthusiasm.
They have been completed all kinds of preparations in the city under the auspices of Rajshahi district administration, Metropolitan Police, and other religious organizations for peaceful celebration of the Eid-ul-Fitr with due solemnity and feelings.
RCC has completed preparations to hold a total of 85 Eid congregations at different venues in the city and its 30 Ward under the supervision of respective ward Councillor.
Various other voluntary organizations completed more than 60 congregations’ structure on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr at traditional and temporary to make the city’s Eid congregations successful, RCC is facilitating necessary decoration arrangement to around 50 Eid jamaats.
Marking the celebration, special diets will be served to the inmates of different hospitals, jails and Government Shishu Sadan.
