Tigers have kept their semis hope alive of the ICC World Cup Cricket after beating West Indies by seven wickets in their match at Taunton in England on Monday.
Chasing West Indies’ total of 321 for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 50 overs, Bangladesh sailed home making 322 for the loss of three wickets when they had 51 balls to spare.
Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Kumar Das played a vital role for the Tigers’ much-awaited victory.
Shakib Al Hasan remained unbeaten with 124. His 99-ball innings was belted with 16 fours. It was Shakib’s ninth ODI century. Shakib Al Hasan was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
Liton Kumar Das remained unbeaten with 94. His 69-ball knock was laced with four sixes and eight fours.
Tamim Iqbal hit a fine 48. His 53-ball innings had six fours.
Soumya Sarkar added 29 runs to the Bangladesh’s total.
Earlier, Shai Hope, Ewin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer and Jason Holder got success in batting.
Hope notched up 96, Lewis hit 70, Hetmyer made 50 and Holder scored 50 runs. Mustafizur Rahman and Mohammad Saifuddin grabbed three wickets each at the cost of 59 and 72 runs respectively, while Shakib Al Hasan bagged a couple of wickets for 54 runs.
