Bangladesh went crazy and lost wickets thick and fast to be bowled out for 108 in just 16.3 overs against Hong Kong in their last World Twenty20 qualifier on Thursday. In a stunning collapse, Bangladesh fell from 85 for 3 in the space of just four overs. The hosts’ batting combusted inexplicably at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong to let Nepal in with a chance of progressing to the Super 10. Hong Kong will have to chase down 109 in less than 13.2 overs for Nepal to make it at the cost of Bangladesh. Anamul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim all threw their wickets away to leave Bangladesh in trouble. The batsmen came and went back in a hurry – Al-Amin Hossain (1), Farhad Reza (0), Abdur Razzak (0), Mahmudullah (2) didn’t trouble the scorecard. Skipper Mushfiqur ( 23), dropped on 22, slogged at a wide delivery and holed out to extra cover. Shakib’s (34 off 27) cameo was nipped in the bud when he was caught at deep midwicket off Irfan Ahmed. In-form Anamul (26 off 17) was bowled after smashing three consecutive boundaries in the Nadeem Ahmed over, which concluded a 48-run third wicket stand between the opener and Shakib. Sent in to bat, Bangladesh were rocked back early after losing two wickets in the first over but fought back through Anamul and Shakib before the former fell in the 6th over. Hong Kong had a dream start when birthday boy Tamim Iqbal (0) completely missed Tanwir Afzal’s line to lose his off-stump to a ball that nipped back. Sabbir Rahman (2) was trapped leg before a couple of deliveries later Nadeem picked 4 for 21 while Nizakat Khan bagged 3 for 17. Bangladesh are without pacer Mashrafe Mortaza. Rubel Hossain replace him.
