The Tigers made an auspicious start in the Tri-Nation series defeating West Indies by eight wickets in their first match of the Tri-Nation Series at Dublin in Ireland on Tuesday.
Batting first, West Indies made 261 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
In reply, Bangladesh romped home making 264 for the loss of two wickets when they had five overs to spare.
Openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar made a solid foundation as they contributed together 144 runs before Soumya was caught at the deep mid-wicket by Darren Bravo off Roston Chase.
Tamim Iqbal notched up a marvelous 80. His 116-ball innings was decorated with seven fours. It was Tamim Iqbal’s 45th ODI half century.
Soumya Sarkar hammered a splendid 73. His 68-ball knock was ornamented with nine fours and a sixer. It was Soumya’s eighth ODI half-century.
After departure of Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan came at the crease. Then Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan repaired the damage adding together 52 runs for the second wicket partnership before Tamim Iqbal was caught at the short mid-wicket by Jason Holder off Shannon Gabriel when Bangladesh’s score was 196 for the loss of two wickets.
After dismissal of Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim took their team at the winning spot.
Shakib remained unbeaten with 61, while Mushafiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 25.
