Expressing concern over the offered fiscal amnesty to ‘black money’ in the national budget (2014-15 fiscal), Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has demanded cancellation of the illegal and the unethical provision. TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekaruzzaman in a written statement on Sunday said, it is obvious that the ethical structure of the government has captivated in the hand of corruption by continuing the provision of legalising black money once again. The provision, he said, is the violation against our constitutional provision No-20 (2). “This illegal provision will award the corruption and discourage the truthfulness if it is finally implemented”, he said, adding that it is discrimination for the honest purchasers of the real estate sector.Dr Zaman said, according to the National Board of Revenue (NBR), the amnesty to legalise black money could never contribute to create investment-friendly-atmosphere or collect revenue. After placing the proposed budget in the National Parliament in June 5, Finance Minister AMA Muhith said that the government would discontinue the provision of legalising black money. But he, in the Parliament on Saturday, declared that the next budget would allow legalising black money in two areas, including real estate investment.
