Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested three alleged snatchers from city’s Excess road area under Halishahor Thana early Thursday.
The arrested were identified as Mohammad Anwar Hossain, 28, son of Ashan Uddin, Saddam Hossain, 26, son of Jafar Alam, and Mohammad Selim, 28, late Abdur Rahim, all hailed from Comilla district.
On secret information, a team of Halishahor thana police arrested the trio from Excess road area under city’s Halishahor thana around 3.15 am while they were fleeing after snatching belongings from a pedestrian in the aforesaid area, said Pronob Kumar Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Haslishahor thana.
Probob said the trio are professional snatchers, as they have been snatching valuables from people in different areas of the city for long.
Police also recovered three knives from their possession.
