Three persons- two college students and one police official, were injured in a factional clash of Chhatra league at Pekuar Bazaar area of the district.
Police arrested one HM Shawkat, leader of one faction of BCL.
Witnesses said Upazila Chhatra League President Kafil Uddin Bahadur and General Secretary Ehteshamul Haque went to Pekuar Bazaar to bring out a victory rally and was locked in an altercation with the other faction of BCL.
Sub-Inspector Bipul Chandra Roy brought the situation under control. At that time he himself and two college students were injured.
He was admitted to Pekua Government Hospital. Chhatra League president Kafil Uddin said Shawkat has no connection with the BCL and he tried to make anarchy during the Bijoy rally.
He also said when we tried to resist the violence, he along with few youths launched attack on us. They also attacked police.
Pakeua Police Station Inspector Jahirul Islam KLhan said a petrol team of police was engaged in Pekua Bazar. At that time, both the groups were locked in clash, leaving an SI and two others injured.
Legal action will be taken against the responsible persons, the police officer said.
