Police arrested a sacked reporter and his two brothers on charges of extorting a shop owner in Pahartali area of Chittagong city on Monday late night.
A case was filed against the three, Robiul Islam, 23, Md Abu Hasan alias Mamun, 21, and Mahfuzur Rahman, 19, sons of Shahadat Hossain of Sirazganj district, residents of Fouzdarhat Banglabazar area. Mamun was sacked from online news agency news71.com one month ago for conducting illegal activities, confirmed the news agency. Quoting witnesses, police said the three went to a bakery in Loharpool area and threatened the shop owner that if they did not get money.
