Those who deny Bangabandhu shouldn’t have right to do politics: Hasan

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said those who deny Bangabandhu should not have the right to do politics in the country which became independent under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“The defeated evil forces of 1971 from home and abroad carried out
the brutal assassination (on August 15) for not only to unseat Bangabandhu from the power, but also with an aim to foil the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh,” he said this on Sunday while speaking at a discussion at an auditorium of Tathyo Bhaban on Circuit House Road in the capital.Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organized the discussion with its Secretary Md Mokbul Hossain in the chair. Hasan said the incident on the fateful night of August 15 in 1975 was not only killing (incident), there was also a deep rooted evil design behind the assassination.
The minister said trials of killers were completed. And, now it is the time of demand to unmask the kingpins including Ziaur Rahman behind the killing mission to present the real history before the next generation, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary. Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) Director General (DG) Zafar Wazed, Bangladesh Television (BTV) DG Sohrab Hossain, Bangladesh Betar DG Ahmed Kamruzzaman, National Institute of Mass Communication DG Shahin Islam and Department of Films and Publications DG SM Kibria, among others, spoke.
Dr Shahdat Hossain Nipu and Tamanna Tithi recited poems in the memory of Bangabandhu. Earlier, a documentary titled ‘Chiranjeeb Bangabandhu’ was screened.
In the beginning, Hasan visited an exhibition on the life and works of Bangabandhu.
Terming Bangabandhu as a poet of politics, Hasan said after the March 7 speech of Bangabandhu, the Pakistani intelligence force wrote in their report that ‘in fact, clever Sheikh Mujib has declared the independence of Bangladesh . . . we had nothing to do’. He said the state of Bangladesh was established under the leadership of Bangabandhu.
“Bangabandhu had awakened an unarmed and sleeping nation with the motto of independence, otherwise, the nation couldn’t have gained independence. He (Bangabandhu) inspired thousands of people and they joined in the Liberation War. For this, he (Bangabandhu) is the greatest Bangalee of all time,” Hasan added.
Mokbul paid rich tribute to Bangabandhu and said such killing incident of August 15 is rare across the globe. But the killers of Bangabandhu couldn’t kill the dream of Bangabandhu, he added. He said Bangladesh is moving ahead indomitably under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Earlier in the morning, Hasan placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi-32. The minister also paid rich tribute to other martyrs at Banani graveyard in the city.
