As many as 5 theft cases were committed in the different houses at the village Badhal wihin Badhal Union Parishad under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat district at the evening (at about 8 pm) of Tuesday last, according to a report received here. Officer-in-charge of Kachua PS and Chairman of Badhal Union Parishad already visited the places of occurrence.
It is learnt from the police and the locals that in the evening a number of miscreants entered the houses belonging to Krisnapada Pal Kundu, Suvas Chandra Das, Lyton Karmakar, Basudeb Das and Tapan Das by breaking the grilles or locks of the houses and looted the gold ornaments, cash Taka and other valuables worth Taka several lakh. At that time all the inmates were absent from the houses as they went to visit the Durga Puja mandops after locking their houses. Taking the opportunity an organized gang of miscreants committed the theft, it is guessed by the locals.
Nakib Faisal Ohid, UP Chairman of Badhal told, committing theft in the five houses at a time in a single village during the Durga Puja is a pathetic incident. Monirul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Kachua PS told, preparation is being taken to take legal action in connection with the theft committed in the village.
