Thieves stole gold ornaments and cash from two jewellery shops at the Kakrail’s Karnaphuli Garden City in the capital.
The theft happened on the third floor of the shopping mall in the wee hours of Saturday.
Monirul Islam, officer in-charge (OC) of Ramna Police Station, said, “The employees went home closing the shops on Friday night. They came to know about the theft after opening the shops this morning. We are trying to collect CCTV footage for investigation. CID and DB teams are working.”
“How much gold ornaments have been stolen will be known after talking with the owners,” the OC added.
But, one of the owners said 450 bhori of gold ornaments and cash Tk 7.5 lakh were stolen from his shop.
The two shops are Best & Best Gold Creations Jewel Avenue and Mohona Jewellers.
