National Film Award winner Gazi Rakayet directed movie The Grave has been
shortlisted in the reminder list of productions eligible for the 94th Academy Awards. Bangladesh first state financed English movie will be competing for nominations alongside 276 movies which include
popular movies such as Eternals
and No Way Home: Spider Man.
The movie The Grave was released in both Bangla (title Gor) and English with the aim to reach viewers internationally. Story, dialogues, and screenplay have also been done by Gazi Rakayet. Director Rakayet said, “To my knowledge, it is the first Bangladeshi film to compete in the general criteria in the Oscars. It has certainly opened many doors for us.” He also informed that 10 thousand voters (noted directors, cinematographers and actors) will participate in the selection
of the winners in 20 categories. 120 films will be elected for the final nominations.
