Thanchi to enter into power network

Power networking work of Thanchi upazila in the district is progressing first amid much enthusiasm of the people as they are going to get electricity for the first time.
The networking work about 54-km area from Chimbuk to Thanchi upazila Sadar has already started and it will be finished on June next year. Ministry of Power Energy and Mineral Resource is implementing the electrification networking work at a cost of Taka 26 crore under its Power Connection Installation Project. After getting electricity people of the upazila would cultivate their land without irrigation problem, said Thanchi upazila parishad chairman Khyhla Sing Marma.
State Minister of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Bir Bahadur MP said the work of the project is progressing fast and about 20,000 people of the area will get benefit after getting into the power network.
Besides, the government has taken another special project for bringing the remote areas of CHT districts in solar power network, Bir Bahadur said.
Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs will implement the project very soon at a cost of Taka 40 crore to supply the solar power network among the power deprived people.
