BSS, Dhaka :
Thailand’s frontline corporate house “PM Group” would invest around $150 million in Bangladesh to set up a Bi-axially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) factory in collaboration with Bangladesh’s leading industrial business house “Meghna Group.”
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on establishing the BOPP was signed in Bangkok on Wednesday, a foreign ministry press release said here Thursday.
Mostafa Kamal, Chairman of Meghna Group, and Chalermchai Mahagitsiri, Chief Executive of the PM Group, inked the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand and Cambodia Saida Muna Tasneem was present at the signing ceremony.
Since taking the helms of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Bangkok, Ambassador Tasneem has been working relentlessly for attracting Thai FDI to Bangladesh. She held a series of meetings with Thai Board of Investment, Thai-Bangladesh Business Council and business communities of Thailand.
Bangladesh Embassy organized an investment trip of the delegation of PM Group’s sister concern “Thai Film Industry”, to Bangladesh in December 2014 that helped the delegation to finalize their joint venture partnership with the Meghna Group.
