A textile engineer was shot to death by miscreants at Green Road in the capital early Tuesday. The deceased identified as Saddin Hossain Sani, 25, a textile engineer of a private company in Savar and son of Sawkat Hossain, a resident of Green Road area, hailed from Nawabganj upazila of Dhaka district. Police said Sani went to the house of his uncle (maternal aunt’s husband) Dr. Shahidul Islam Khan on the Road-7 near Labaid Hospital at about 12:15am as miscreants had threatened to kill Shahidul over mobile phone.Sani came under attack of a group of unidentified miscreants, numbering 3-4, when he was taking tea at a tea stall in front of Labaid Hospital in the area around 12:45 after returning from his uncle’s house. The attackers from a private car opened fire at Sani, leaving him critically injured. Severely injured, he was rushed to Labaid Hospital where doctors declared him dead. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Police suspected that the young man was killed by his rivals over previous enmity. —UNB, Dhaka.
