Terror charges HuT leader Mohiuddin acquitted

The Anti-terrorism Special Tribunal of Dhaka on Sunday sentenced two Hizb-ut Tahrir members to rigorous imprisonment for two years each in a case filed under the anti-terrorism act.
The tribunal also fined them Tk 5,000 each and they are- Saidur Rahman and Touhidul Alam, in default they will suffer three months more in the prison.
The Judge of the tribunal Mujibur Rahman acquitted Hizb-ut Chief Coordinator

 Mohiuddin Ahmed,also a teacher of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University, and three others from the charges.
The three others are: MA Yusuf Ali Khan, Tanvir Ahmed and Kazi Morshedul Haque Plabon.
Mohiuddin, a teacher of the Institute of Business Administration of Dhaka University, and three others acquitted Hizb-ut Tahrir members — MA Yusuf Ali Khan, Tanvir Ahmed and Kazi Morshedul Haque alias Plabon were present at the courtroom.
Saidur Rahman alias Rajib and Tauhidul Alam alias Chanchal were sentenced to two years imprisonment and fined Tk 5,000 each.
Bench Clerk (Peshkar) Ataur Rahman said the tribunal also issued a warrant of arrest against Saidur Rahman and Touhidul Alam as they are on the run.
According to the case statement, police arrested the Hizb-ut Tahrir men from sector-2 of Uttara on April 18, 2010 when they gathered there along with anti-government leaflets and posters and petrol bomb to create panic.
Later, a case was filed against them under the anti-terrorism act with Uttara Model Police Station.
On February 9, 2013, Detective Branch Police Inspector Nurul Amin pressed charges against the accused.
