Severe altercations and scuffle between two factions of city BNP in the port city at Ansar Club premises under Kotwali thana in city occurred yesterday morning centring the election campaign . Tense situation in the area is prevailing in the area, a local sources said.
Eye witnesses sources said centring the election campaign and mass contact programs for BNP backed Mayson aspirant was s cheduled to launch from Pathergatha Ansar Club premises from 10.30 am and hence the supporters of BNP and its front organization turned over the premises after 10 am. On that time, a procession of city BNP led by Boxirhat Ward BNP Secretary Akbar and city BNP senior leader MA Sabur stormed in same venue and starts anti-Manzoor slogans. At one stage it turned into a severe altercations and scuffle in b between two groups, sources said. Sensing the news of the mismanagement among them, city BNP Vice President Shamsul Alam came over the spot and bring the situation under control.
While contacted BNP leader Shamsul Alam told this reporter that due some misunderstandings , the unwanted incidents happened which later resolved.
