A tense situation is still prevailing on the campus of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), as a syndicate meeting supposed to be held yesterday was not held due to absence of many teachers.
According to campus sources, in the morning, a section of teachers of the SUST under the banner of ‘Mohan Muktijuddher Chetonay Udbuddho Shikshokbrindo’ who are on protest demanding resignation of Vice-Chancellor Prof Aminul Haque Bhuiyan held a sit-in programme in front of VC’s office for eight consecutive day. Convenor of the platform Professor Shamsul Alam said the syndicate meeting was postponed in face of the movement.
But the syndicate sources said that the meeting was postponed due to quorum crisis and on the request of Awami League leaders.
The meeting was called to discuss up-gradation of teachers’ salary, said the sources.
