Ten die with corona-like symptoms

Ten persons died with corona-like symptoms in seven districts in the last 24 hours.
In Kurigram, a seven-month-old girl who was suffering from cold and fever died at Paglar Darga village in Rajarhat upazila early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Ayesha Begum.
A medical team of Rajarhat Health Complex collected the victim’s sample for coronavirus test, said its Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Shahinur Rahman.
Locals said the child’s father who works in Narayanganj frequently visits home.
The house of the deceased was put under lockdown and family members were kept in home-quarantine, said officer-in-charge of Rajarhat Police Station Krishna Kumar Sarkar.
In Chandpur, a 30-year-old man who had been suffering from fever and stomach ache at Shikirkandi village in Matlab North upazila died on Thursday.
The deceaed was identified as Nasir Gazi, 30, a CNG auto-rickshaw driver.
Dr Sajeda Begum Polin, health and family planning officer of Sadar upazila health complex, said the man had been suffering from stomach ache and fever. Stomach ache is also a symptom of coronavirus, she said.
When the man’s condition worsened the family members tried to take him to Chandpur General Hospital but he died on way to the hospital. Samples of the victim were sent to the IEDCR for test on Friday morning.
In Bogura, a 42-year-old rickshaw puller suffering from fever, cough and sneezing died at the isolation unit of Mohammad Ali Hospital of Bogura on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Enamul of Chandupara village in Sadar upazila.
Dr Shafique Amin Kajol, resident doctor of the hospital, said Enamul was admitted with fever, coughing and sneezing on Thursday afternoon and died at 9pm.
The body of the deceased was handed over to the administration and it will be buried according to the rule, he said, adding that the man’s sample was collected and sent to Rajshahi Medical College for coronavirus testing.
Meanwhile, the upazila administration has been urged to keep the house of the deceased under lockdown, he added.
In Chattogram, an old man infected by coronavirus or COVID-19 died in the isolation ward of Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) in the district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Bazal Mia, 65, a security guard of Soraipara area of Pahartoli.
Dr Hasan Shahriar Kabir, a divisional health director, said Bazal died in the isolation ward at 9:30am, prompting the law enforcers to put 40 houses of Soraipara area under lockdown.
BITID Director Prof Dr Abul Hasan Chowdhury said the deceased was admitted to the institute on April 14 and his test report confirmed his corona infection on Thursday.
Al Manahil, a voluntary organisation, arranged proper burial of the deceased.
In Khulna, two people including a child died with breathing complications at the isolation ward of Khulna Medical College Hospital(KMCH) on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Asaduzzaman, 24, of Lobonchera area in the city and Mitu, 10, of Kajdia village in Rupsha upazila.
KMCH physician Shoilendranath Biswas said Asaduzzaman died at the isolation ward at 10am while the Mitu died at 12:30pm with breathing complications.
Asaduzzaman was admitted to hospital at 9am with breathing complications and died shortly after shifting to the isolation unit of the hospital, he added.
Meanwhile, the girl also was admitted to KMCH on Thursday night and later she was taken to the isolation unit where she died Friday noon, Dr Shoilendranath said.
He also said that samples were collected from both of them for test.
In Patuakhali, two people, including a woman who were suffering from cold, fever and breathing problems, died in separate hospitals in the district on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Rashida Begum of Badarpur in Sadar upazila and Nannu Mollah, 65, a farmer of Debpur village of Kalapara upazila.
Rashida Begum died at Sadar Hospital while Nannu in Kalapara Health Complex, said Civil Surgeon Dr Jahangir Alam Shipon. He said family members of the deceased have been directed to remain in home-quarantine. Their samples have been collected for coronavirus said, the civil surgeon said.
In Rangamati, two youths who had been suffering from fever and cold in separate places of the district died on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Thuisasing Marma, 21 of Rajosthali upazila and Imam Uddin, 18 of Baghaichhari upazila.
Dr Ruhla Ong Marma, health and family planning officer of Rajosthali Hospital, said Thusaising, a garment worker in Chattogram, came to his village home at Bangalhalia 12 days ago.
The man was admitted to the hospital with fever, cold and respiratory problem, said Dr Iftekhar Ahmed, health officer of the Upazila Health Complex.
He died on Thursday night. On information, a medical team collected the samples of the deceased and sent those to Chattogram for test on Friday morning.
Besides, when Imam, son of Nurul Alam of Baghaichhari upazila, went to the Upazila Health Complex on Wednesday with fever he was sent to Fouzdarhat in Chattogram for corona testing.
After test he was taken to the isolation unit of the health complex. As his condition turned critical he was being taken on Chattogram by an ambulance on Thursday night but died on way to the hospital.
The local administrations put the houses of the two deceased and their neighbours under lockdown.
It also asked two private clinics and diagnostic centres to suspend their operation until further notice.
