Police recovered the body of twelve-year-old schoolgirl from Tejgaon Begunbari area of Dhaka on Saturday morning .
Primarily it is being suspected that the girl was raped first and then strangled. The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy.
The deceased was identified as Sagorika Tripti, 12, daughter of one Hasan Ali from Shukkurpur village under Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali. She was 5th grade student of BG Press Primary School and used to live with her family in Tejgaon area.
Victim’s brother-in-law Mozaffar Hossain told the media that Tripti’s elder sister Kulsum found her lying on the floor of his room and initially taken to Shamarita Hospital where physician declared her dead.
He also said an unidentified youth was seen fleeing Tripti’s room following the incident.
Kamal Hossain, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Tejgaon industrial Police Station told media that the youth, who fled the scene, was identified through CCTV footage and raids are being conducted to catch him.
