A boy was hacked to death and two others sustained injuries in a clash between two groups of teenagers over a trifling matter in Dhaka’s Keraniganj area on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Sanju, 15, a resident of Kalindi area and the injured were Nayeem, 14, and Alvi, 16.
Witnesses said that some teenagers started fighting in Kalindi area of Keraniganj around 11:00pm over a trifling matter while playing badminton. At one stage of fighting, some of them started stabbing others, leaving at least three injured.
The injured were taken to Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital where on-duty doctors declared Sanju dead, Keraniganj police station sub-inspector Sirajul Islam said.
Sanju was stabbed in the chest and other parts of his body, said the police officer.
The police held two siblings over the incident from the spot, the SI added.
