Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) became the champions of the Men’s Division of the Walton Home Appliance Victory Day Handball Tournament when they beat Bangladesh Police by 28-25 goals in the final at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium on Thursday.
BJMC emerged the champions of the Women’s Division when they defeated Bangladesh Ansar by 24-20 goals in the final at the same venue on the same day.
BGB led the first half by13-12 goals.
Sudhan Barua of BGB scored nine goals and his teammate Mir Khairuzzaman netted eight goals while Helal Uddin of Bangladesh Police netted seven goals and his teammate Mahbubul Alam scored six goals.
BJMC had a 11-9 goals lead in the first session.
Sahida of BJMC scored 10 goals and her teammate Shirina netted four goals while Nishi of Bangladesh Ansar scored 13 goals.
After the final matches Additional Director of RB Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest while Sports Ambassador of Walton Jobera Rahman Linu, noted sports organiser Farida Anwar were with him as special guests.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Handball Federation Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, Chairman of the Tournament Committee Md Nurul Islam and Secretary of the Tournament Committee Md Selim Mia were present at the time.
