Three teenage students of a Madrasa allegedly killed their fellow classmate after kidnapping him for Tk 5 lakh ransom in Natore district town and dumped the body in a septic tank.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members recovered the body of victim Tanvir Alam, 11, a student of Hefzakhana Ashraful Ulum Hafezia Madrasa at Alaipur from a septic tank in the town on Tuesday. RAB officials said that the victim’s father, Saiful Islam, lodged a complaint with RAB and they went for action.
Raiding the madrasa early Tuesday, RAB picked up Tanvir’s three classmates Husaid Hossain, 15, Bayzid Hasan, 14, and Mohammad Naeem, 15.
RAB officials said that the students admitted their involvement in the incident and gave them information about dumping of Tanvir’s body.
The RAB team also seized a razor and a rope allegedly used in the killing. Lt Col Mahbubul Alam, Commanding Officer (CO) of RAB-5, said that Tanvir was missing from August 25.
He said that on August 28, Tanvir’s father Saiful Islam informed RAB that some unidentified criminals abducted his son and demanded Tk 5 lakh as ransom.
The official said that since then the elite force members were trying to rescue Tanvir. He said that the trio allegedly got inspired by an Indian television serial to commit the henious crime.
He said immediately after the kidnapping, the assailants tied the hands and legs of Tanvir with a rope and then hacked his throat with razor to death.
The official said, after the murder, the trio called Tanvir’s family on mobile phone and demanded Tk 5 lakh in ransom.
