A 15-year old girl was gang-raped on a running truck at Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj district on Tuesday night, police said.
The victim has been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for medical test, our local correspondent reports quoting police.
Abu Bakar, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Siddhirganj Police Station, said, “The victim left her home after an altercation with her mother around 4:00pm on Tuesday. When the girl reached Gazipur Chowrasta at around 8:00pm, truck driver Mehedi Hasan and his helper Sohan lured her to get on the truck saying that they would take her to Dhaka.”
“The two then raped her several times on board on the way to Narayanganj,” the SI said.
Locals rescued the victim after hearing her screams when the truck was stopped at ACI water pump at around 10:00am on Wednesday, he said.
On information, police rushed to the spot and seized the truck. The law enforcers, however, could not arrest the culprits as they managed to flee the spot, he said.
“We are trying to arrest the accused,” he further said.
