Teachers get grants in Gafargaon

In Gafargaon, Mymensingh, on Thursday afternoon, special grants announced by the Prime Minister were distributed among the teachers and staff working in non-MPO technical, madrasas and independent educational institutions of Gafargaon Upazila, maintaining social distance at the Upazila Parishad auditorium organized by the Upazila administration. Member of Parliament Fahmi Golandaj Babel was present as the chief guest on the occasion.
 The chief guest said that our Bangladesh economy is much safer when the developed countries of the world, even our big neighbors India and China, are not safe. Today, Bangladesh is successfully tackling the Coronavirus Crisis (Covid-19).
Fahmi Golandaj Babel MP further said that Sheikh Hasina has been supervising everything since the onset of Coronavirus. The government led by Sheikh Hasina has moved forward by formulating various practical plans to deal with this crisis.
The economy is strong as imports, exports and remittances are the major indicators of the economy. Food has been delivered from house to house by listing middle income group of people in the Corona crisis. Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina gave a grant of Tk 5,000 crore for poor farmers and to increase agricultural production. Imams of mosques, khatibs, muezzins, madrasa teachers, non-MPO teachers, garment workers, village police and disabled journalists were not excluded from the grant. The Prime Minister did not even forget about the people of the third sex. They are also given financial assistance. Relief assistance is provided to millions of people with special incentives in the industrial sector.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Tajul Islam presided over the function while Upazila Parishad Chairman Ashraf Uddin Badal, Municipal Mayor SM Iqbal Hossain Sumon, Upazila Parishad Vice-Chairman Principal Ataur Rahman and Women Vice-Chairman Reshma Akter were the special guests.
Grant checks were handed over to 209 non-MPO teachers and staff working in technical, madrasas and independent educational institutions. At the initiative of the Upazila Education Office, 10 disabled students were given wheelchairs and the mothers of 10 indigent students were given mobile sets under the ‘Learn to Sit at Home’ teaching program of the Department of Primary Education.
MP Fahmi Golandaj Babel planted palm seeds to reduce the risk of lightning and released fish fry in the pond of Upazila Parishad organized by Upazila Fisheries Office.
