World Teachers Day is a special day which is celebrated in different countries of the world to express respect, honor and love towards teachers. It is also known as International Teachers Day. It is extremely important to acknowledge the contribution of teachers towards the society at a large. This day is not only the celebration of teacher’s day but also it is an opportunity for the students to express their feelings to their teachers. It is celebrated annually on 5 October all over the world.
Teachers day has been observed various dates in different countries around the world. In most of the countries Teacher’s day marked as the contribution of any famed person of educational repute. Such as in Argentina, teacher’s day was observed on 11 September on the occasion of death anniversary of Domingo Faustino Sarmento. As well as, India celebrated teacher’s day on 5 September on the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. However, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) declared and recognized 5 October as World Teacher’s Day in 1994. Now, more than 200 countries of the world observe World Teacher’s Day with the theme declared by UNESCO. For 2018, the theme is “The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher”
Teachers help the children in every step from the very beginning of life. In pre-school and Kindergarten, the teachers are often engage in word play, sing a song, make up rhymes, even helps in taking break fast. The teachers rehearch the children about the vital habit of children such as how to speak, how to learn, how to write, how to behave with others, etc. So, the initial attitude and behave of children are built up from the teachers. The language and literacy skill of children come mostly from his/her teachers.
Now a days, teaching and learning takes place in many forms and many in medium. The rapid growth of internet and technology has given us a lot of digital instruments to ensure that teaching and learning continues long after we have left the traditional school building. But this mode of learning is not so effective for the students as practical classes in school. Teacher’s practical lecture can make any topics easy and quick understanding.
Teachers perform a lot of good deal to keep our world civilized and educated. They teach the children from pre-primary school to higher education. They guide their students at every age from childhood to maturity. They are the chief architects of the future citizen of a country, more over a world. The teachers are always unselfish to his profession. They contribute their best effort to learn the student and for better of his/her students.
Teaching is a special occupation. Teachers teach their students who become responsible pillars of the society in future like Doctor, Engineer, Agriculturist, Teacher, Architecture, Chartered Accountant, etc. So, students are the backbone of a nation. Today’s students are the tomorrow’s citizens. The teacher has immense contribution to convert a student to a responsible citizen. All the teachers are work hard to educate the students despite of their relatively low pay compared to other profession.
Teacher-Student relationship is one of the sweetest relations in the world. The students follow the advice and guidelines of the teachers which help them reach in bright career. The teachers teach the students about self-discipline, self-defense, self-presentation, mold their character for upcoming life ahead. By the relationship, a teacher can change the nation easily but no other professionals can do it.
A teacher is a friend, a philosopher, a guide, a trainer; thousands of role-play for his/her students. He/she can hold the hand, opens mind and touches the heart of a children. The contribution of a teacher from the very beginning of life to maturity cannot be ignored at all. Teaching is the most influential job in the world. Teachers are known to shape the mind of youth with knowledge and skill and without knowledge no one can exist in this world. So, teachers are the real patriarch of the society, country and the world as a whole. The role of teachers in nation building is inevitable. Most of the countries of the world respect teachers to the above of all professionals.

Presently, teaching pattern has been shifted to digital learning since it is the era of technology. But we cannot undermine the importance and contribution of teachers in our life. An ideal teacher has blessed with a power to create a mind such way to think critically, analyse and learn the capability of distinguishing between right and wrong. He can lead a student to attain ethical enlightenment.
