A school teacher was shot dead and five of his family members sustained bullet injuries when a gang of assailants opened fire at his house in Digarpankhali area of Chakaria municipal early Sunday.
The dead was identified as Narayan Das, 33, teacher of a high school and son of Profulla Ranjan Das.
Prabhash Chandra, officer-in-charge of Chakaria Thana said, miscreants entered into the house of Narayan early today and fired aiming at them, leaving them injured.
Locals rushed them to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where Narayan died.
On information, police went to the spot and sent it to hospital morgue.
Police suspected that Narayan might have been killed over land dispute.
