Prices of egg, vegetables and rice shoot up

The price of egg is again showing upward trend after the unusual price hike of egg in the country’s history.
At the same time, the price of vegetables and rice also is rising surprisingly. There are no vegetables below Tk 40 in the capital kitchen market except green papaya and potato.
After visiting few egg markets in the capital, it was seen that the businessmen were selling per dozen eggs at Tk 150 whereas one week earlier it was Tk 130.
Karwan Bazar egg trader Md Latif Mia said it is clear to all that the syndicate has manipulated and hiked the egg price. These dishonest businessmen are solely responsible for indiscipline and price chaos.
 People of the country should have left the buying of egg. The dishonest syndicate gang will bound to decrease the price of egg.
He further said I think the price of egg will be reduced further.
The scenario of rice market is disappointing as the price increased by Tk 2 to Tk 3 per kg in the last four to five days. Fine Miniket rice was sold for Tk 70 to Tk 84 a kg at the city’s Karwan Bazar yesterday, up from Tk 65 to Tk 66 a week ago. The price of Najirshal soared to Tk 80 a kg from Tk 75 to Tk 76.
The price of coarse rice has soared by Tk 2 per kg as well.
The price of broiler and Pakistani cock chicken also has remained stable in a week distance in the capital’s kitchen market.
The scenario of the vegetables market is that bean and cauliflower are being sold at high price of Tk 160 per kg and Tk 40-50 per piece respectively.
On the other hand, the price of carrot, tomato and French has remained stable as these are being sold at Tk 120-130, Tk 140 (local), Tk 120 (Indian) and Tk 70-80 respectively.
Furthermore, brinjal is being sold at Tk 50-70, cucarbitaceous at Tk 50-70, green papaya at Tk 25-30, parble at Tk 50, bitter gourd at Tk 60-80, Arum-lobe, spone gourd, snake gourd are at Tk 50-60.
In the kitchen market, the broiler chicken is being sold at Tk 180 whereas the Sonali (Popularly known as Pakistani cock) is being sold at Tk 280-330.
Humayun Ahmed, a customer from Karwan Bazar has expressed his dissatisfaction at the market price saying that the price of all commodities in the market is high. After spending Tk 500 there we get a few items.
Small size cauliflower is charging Tk 30-40. In every meal about 3-4 cauliflowers are needed. So, I am at a loss how to manage all those things.
The fish marker picture is that shrimp sells at Tk 600-650 only. The cat fish was selling at Tk 400 to 450 at Baganbari, South Goran on Friday, taki machh at Tk 350, Papda at Tk 400 and boal machh at Tk 600 only.
Furthermore, the availability of Hilsha fish in the market is greeted by the consumers. In the market one kg weight Hilsha fish is being sold at Tk 1,200 to Tk 1,300 whereas one week ago it was Tk 1, 400 to Tk 1, 600.
And 700-800 gram Hilsha is being sold at Tk 800-900 and 400-500 gram at Tk 500-600 while one week ago they were at Tk 900-1,000 and Tk 600-700 respectively.
