Tea-seller beaten to death over ‘dues’ in Chattogram

A tea seller was beaten to death at Baroidhala in Sitakunda upazila on Sunday evening reportedly over dues.
The deceased was identified as Md Nurul Islam, 60, son of late Abdul Hadi of the area.
Quoting relatives, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda Police Station Md Jabbarul Islam said Nurul locked into an altercation with local Mosharraf when he went to his house seeking his dues.
At one stage of their altercation, Mosharraf along with his family members beat Nurul, leaving him severely injured.
Later, locals took him to Sitakunda Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsy, added the OC.
