Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will sell four essential commodities sugar, edible oil, lentil and gram at 15 open points in the city from May 15.
A total of 5 trucks to be deployed at 15 points in the city to sell these 4 essential items through designated dealers, a TCB official told BSS today.
Besides, 119 dealers will sell TCB items at fair price for common people. Sources said, the sugar would sell at Tk 55 per kg, lentil at Tk 80 per kg, gram at Tk 70 per kg and a litter of bottle soybean oil at Tk 85 per kg. Last year sugar was sold at Tk 48 per kg, a liter of bottle soybean oil at Tk 90 per kg, lentil at Tk 100 per kg and gram at Tk 65 per kg, sources said. The state agency appointed 482 dealers in 14 districts including Khulna city and district last month to sell the commodities.
The districts are Khulna, Faridpur, Rajbari, Gopalganj, Pirojpur, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Narail, Jessore, Magura, Meherpur, Jhenidah, Kushtia and Chuadanga. Regional Director of TCB Khulna Zone Robiul Morshed said that the government has taken a number of steps to make sure that the prices of essentials remain stable during Ramadan.
