Tax rebate for greener holdings: DNCC Mayor

Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam on Thursday said that tax rebate facility would be awarded to those who create gardens on rooftops and balconies in his jurisdiction.
“Holdings will get tax rebate facility if they create gardens on roofs of buildings and plant tree plants in balconies,” said DNCC mayor in a introducing ceremony arranged for the newly elected councilors of extended wards at the Nagorbhaban in Gulshan.
The mayor said also that he had a plan to make it compulsory for the shopkeepers to keep a waste bin and two tobs of tree plants in shops.
He also promised that the water logging problems would be eliminated soon from his area.
“We will make Dhaka a neat and clean Dhaka city working together honestly. I have seen lot of the problems in the city during the recent by-polls. People’s demand should be respected by us. We need to be public servants,” said the mayor.
The newly elected councilors of the extended wards talked of the necessity to implement facilities like old wards.  
Besides, the old wards councilors also raised their problems of water-logging, mosquito breeding, traffic gridlocks, waste management’s and grabbing of city lands including canals and pavements.
The mayor listened the speeches of the councilors patiently. He vowed to work to firmly to drive away all the problems.
DNCC Chief Executive Officer Abdul Hye, Chief Engineer Jubaer Saleheen, Chief Health Officer Zakir Hasan and Chief State Officer Md. Aminul Islam, were present among others.
