Tax Commissioner’s son expelled from varsity on rape charge

Shinjan Roy, son of the Khulna Tax Commissioner, has been expelled from his educational institution North Western University (NWU) on charge of raping a fellow student and steep her.
The accused Shinjan, 25, a third year student of LLB Programme, has temporarily been expelled from the institution, said a press release signed by the NWU Registrar Shahidul Islam
 
on Wednesday,
Allegation against Shinjan of violating a girl student of the same department with a promise to marry her has been proved initially, the release said.
The decision was taken at a meeting held on August 19, while Professor Dr Tarapod Bhoumik, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the NWU Khulna branch, the Deans of different faculties, Registrar, Head of the departments and the Proctor, among others , were present.
A three-member investigation committee has also been formed to look into the matter, said Dr Tarapod Bhoumik.
Earlier, a court in Khulna has sent Shinjan to jail in a case filed for violating his classmate and getting her into trouble.
